Bluestone takes its name from the Ellensburg Blue, a rare agate found in the Teanaway formation near Ellensburg and prized for its luster and beauty. Our home is a historic downtown landmark: originally built in 1924 and remodeled in 2003, the 5,000-square-foot building keeps its restored historical facade while giving students a bright, modern space to learn. Walls of windows fill the interior with natural light, and a comfortable break and dining room gives you a place to relax between classes.
Our downtown location puts you close to restaurants, shops, and theaters, with skiing and hiking nearby and Seattle a scenic two-hour drive over Snoqualmie Pass. It’s a welcoming small-city setting that makes for a wonderful place to live and learn.

We keep class sizes small, with a maximum of 10 students and a 10:1 student-to-teacher ratio, so you receive personal attention from instructors and teaching assistants. Students serve clients daily, putting newly learned techniques into practice under the guidance of licensed instructors. Our hands-on approach means you spend your time building real skills, not just reading about them, and you’re supported every step of the way.

Bluestone Academy is licensed by the Washington State Department of Licensing and is connected to industry organizations including the Professional Beauty Association and ProsperU. We train with trusted professional brands such as Pravana, Wella, Alexandria Professional, Bella Lash, and Gelish, so you gain experience with the products and techniques used in today’s salons and spas.
Our 5,000-square-foot building was designed with students in mind. The classroom gives you a comfortable space for theory and demonstrations, with room to watch instructors work up close, while our clinic and treatment areas let you practice with real clients. Walls of windows fill the building with natural light, and a break and dining room offers a relaxed place to recharge between classes.
